British Airways World Cargo Reinforces its Commitment to Valuables (20/06/2001)
An exhibition of new paintings by the renowned Ghanaian
artist, Ablade Glover, sponsored by British Airways World
Cargo, goes on show in London from 21 June - 28 July 2001.
Pat Pearse, GM Customer Services at British Airways World
Cargo said: "The company is sponsoring this exhibition as
a commitment to its valuables service. British Airways
World Cargo, which transported Ablade Glover's collection
to the UK, has a dedicated Security Handling division and
offers specialist expertise to ensure the seamless
transportation of valuable and high security cargo
anywhere around the world."
The airline's expertise is supported by purpose-built
facilities at Heathrow, equipped with the latest security
technology. These include a dedicated parking area for
valuable cargo deliveries and collections, a secure area
at building-side for vehicles that are too large to enter
the building; two doors exclusively for valuable cargo
deliveries and collections and two doors specifically for
valuable cargo airside drivers.
At Ascentis, the highest levels of security are in
operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All Security
handling personnel are screened by stringent UK Home
Office governmental security checks. In addition, all
valuable cargo, including transhipments, are stored in
a 100% secure, high capacity vault, which is under 24 hour
CCTV surveillance.
All British Airways World Cargo's secure handling stations
and procedures are subject to regular reviews and audits
to ensure the highest security levels are maintained
globally.
On-site managers and controllers ensure optimum security
and performance levels are maintained at all times.
The exhibition, which will be held at the October Gallery
in London, is the artists sixth solo show in London.
Trained in Ghana, Britain and the United States, Dr. Glover
is one of Ghana's foremost painters and has accumulated
a number of distinctions. Recently awarded the
Distinguished AFGRAD Alumni Award by the African-American
Institute in New York, Dr. Glover is also a Life Fellow of
the Royal Society of Art in London.
